Properties

  • pH: 6.5 to 7.5
  • Viscosity: Spindle 5 @ 20 = 15,000 to 18,000 cps.

Procedure

Phase A – In main vessel with mixing, disperse phase A in DI water. Phase B – Once hydrated, slowly add phase B. The solution will appear discontinuous at first; allow the solution to wet out completely until uniform. Begin heating to 65°C to 70°C. Phase C – In a separate vessel begin heating and mixing Phase C to 65°C to 70°C. At 65°C to 70°C, add Phase C to Phase AB. Increase speed as needed. Avoid introducing air. Once batch is completely uniform, discontinue heat and begin cooling. Phase D – At 40°C, add Phase D. Transfer the mixture to holding vessel. Product will continue to thicken.
