Responsible Distribution Process ^SM

Coast Southwest is committed to health, safety, security, and caring for the environment and our community.

The Responsible Distribution Process (RDP) initiative, which was developed by and for members of the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD), requires continuous improvement in the safe handling, storage, use, and disposal of chemical products specific to the chemical distribution industry.

RDP has achieved high credibility because it requires written and on-site third-party verification processes that are conducted by independent third-party verification firms designated by NACD.

The written verification includes a company profile which fully documents the company’s operations, management structure, and product lines plus a comprehensive self-assessment report to measure the company’s degree of compliance with RDP Code of management Practice.

This self-assessment considers all the layers of the company—from policy-making to individual behavior and reports on twelve key areas of compliance risk management, training, handling and storage, security and safety, waste management and conservation, emergency response & public preparedness, community outreach, and internal RDP audits.

The on-site third-party verification is conducted by an independent, third-party verifier(s) against a standard protocol based on the RDP Guiding Principles and a Code of Management Practice. Currently, the NACD conducts and initial site visit and then follow up visits every three years.
